Noora Hassinen: Hybrid work enables a dream role and genuine presence in a child’s life
“Hybrid work makes daily life smoother. Kids aren’t always the most cooperative in the mornings—sometimes it feels like everything moves in slow motion.”
Noora Hassinen began her role as a Solution Consultant at Tietoevry Care in November 2023. Drawing from her background as a nurse, she contributes to enhancing the user-friendliness of Tietoevry Care’s Lifecare patient information system – all while balancing a busy family life.
Originally from Kuopio, Noora first graduated as a baker-confectioner. However, the idea of becoming a nurse stayed with her, prompting her to pursue nursing studies in Joensuu. The next decade saw her working as a nurse, during which she relocated to Jyväskylä and began studies for a Master's degree at a university of applied sciences in Clinical Expertise.
In Jyväskylä, Noora worked in specialized healthcare at the central hospital. Noora has always been a development-oriented person and actively voiced this ambition at work. When the patient information system was renewed, she became involved in the project. After returning from maternity leave, Noora took on a new role as an application specialist, working with the familiar Lifecare patient information system.
Eager for new challenges, Noora reached out to a friend at Tietoevry to ask about potential openings. Around the same time, a position opened up at Tietoevry that seemed like a perfect match — once again, Lifecare was at the core of the role.
“I thought, if ever there was a job that suited my skills, this was it. Luckily, I was selected for the role. I’ve now been working at Tietoevry for a year and a half.”
Hybrid work enables balancing life with a child – “I feel privileged that Tietoevry trusts its employees”
Noora hasn’t worked rotating shifts in years, and she’s thankful for the stability of regular hours as she has more control over her schedule. In addition, Tietoevry enables its employees to work in a hybrid model, combining remote work and office life. Her family includes her husband and their 4-year-old child.
“Hybrid work makes daily life smoother. Kids aren’t always the most cooperative in the mornings—sometimes it feels like everything moves in slow motion.”
Working from home allows Noora to approach her day with more flexibility and calm. Flexible hours also make it easier to manage challenging mornings.
“I don’t have to rush or stress about getting to the office. In another situation, the rush would increase feelings of anxiety, but thanks to remote days, my morning routine remains calm.”
Noora feels fortunate to be able to do meaningful work also from home—and sees it as a sign of trust from Tietoevry.
“I save the time I’d otherwise spend commuting. I can also pace my work rhythm, which helps me stay efficient. I feel privileged that Tietoevry trusts its employees.”
Thanks to remote work, Noora is also able to disconnect from work quickly.
“I close the laptop and shut the door to my home office. I pick up my child from daycare and can truly be present for them.”
Remote work fosters open communication and humor – “I might start a meeting by singing”
Noora’s consulting team consists of eight members who are spread across different cities and support various clients. Despite the distance, they function as a close-knit group.
“We have a very close team, and you can always reach out for help. We all have different personalities, but we work together really well. Humor and joking are a regular part of our workdays.”
She also collaborates closely with the product development team behind the Lifecare patient information system. Her extensive background in healthcare plays a key role in improving the system’s user experience.
“I’m proud that I can use my experience to advocate for the professionals who use the system daily. My expertise and skills truly make a difference. Systems should be user-friendly and transparent—not hide information. Positive feedback from the field always warms my heart.”
The positive work culture that Tietoevry is known for is evident in the product development team as well.
“I’ve been warmly welcomed, and the team is full of fantastic people. We have an open dialogue where constructive challenges are encouraged. That’s how we reach the best outcomes.”
Still, not everything is all business. The team often chats about non-work-related topics and keeps the mood light. Noora, in particular, is known for her musical flair.
“I might start a meeting by singing—and I’ve even gotten colleagues to join in! The songs range from hymns to pop. My most frequent performance might be my own version of Macarena. Even my child knows the new lyrics I made up for that song.”
Join our team and reinvent the world. For good.
